Description
Wimoov is a French non-profit network of mobility centres for people who struggle to get around, mostly people in social and professional integration: a personal mobility assessment, advice and training from mobility advisers, and practical solutions such as help buying an electric bike or the loan of a vehicle. It is an alternative to losing a job or training for lack of transport.
It began in 1998 as Voiture & Co, launched with the mutual insurer MACIF after the 1995 strikes had shown how many people depended on car-sharing; it opened its first mobility centre, the Maison des Transports in Nanterre, in 2002, and has belonged to Groupe SOS, a large French social-economy group, since 2007. Wimoov works in more than 150 employment areas. People are referred to it by employment and social services, among them France Travail, with which it held 35 contracts in 2021. Its advisers draw up an individual mobility diagnosis, then point to teaching, practical or financial solutions and follow the person until they are independent.
According to Wimoov, 48 % of the people it follows keep or return to a job or training, and one person in integration in four has turned down a job because they could not get there. Its annual barometer with the Fondation pour la Nature et l’Homme estimated in 2026 that 17 million people in France are in mobility poverty. On 26 August 2026 Wimoov discovered that its WIN platform had been hacked through a compromised user account; it notified the CNIL, said no data leak had been found so far and reset all passwords.
Strengths
- A personal adviser and a mobility diagnosis, instead of facing transport problems alone.
- Practical solutions, from help with an electric bike to the loan of an electric vehicle.
- Nearly 30 years of experience, in more than 150 employment areas, within a large social-economy group.
Weaknesses
- The site gives few details on what is offered where, and no prices or conditions.
- Mainly for people referred by an employment or integration service, not for anyone who walks in.
- A cyberattack hit its WIN platform in August 2026, and the investigation was still running in November.
Who it is for
Job seekers and people in integration programmes who can’t get to work or training for lack of transport, and the advisers who support them.
