Description
Simply Good Food is a recipe site of classic, simple dishes, mostly vegetarian, in English, French and German: soups, salads, pasta, curries, bakes and desserts. It is an alternative to recipe sites full of advertising, pop-ups and life stories before the ingredient list.
In November 2026 the site had 84 recipes: 20 vegan, 41 vegetarian, 16 with fish and 7 with meat, so almost three quarters are meat-free. Each recipe page gives the dish’s origin in a short introduction, the ingredients with quantities, the tools, numbered steps, the preparation and cooking time and the number of servings. It also rates the price of the ingredients from very cheap to expensive and the difficulty from trivial to medium; the site says it has no difficult recipes. Buttons on the lists show only vegan, vegetarian or meat and fish dishes.
The site says its recipes are written by its own team from classic versions checked in several sources, and lists the free and public-domain recipe sources it draws on, such as Wikibooks, Project Gutenberg and the Internet Archive. No about page or legal notice is linked, so the site doesn’t say who runs it.
Strengths
- Mostly vegetarian, cheap and simple home cooking, with the price and difficulty shown for each dish.
- Short, clear recipe pages in three languages, with the dish’s origin, ingredients, tools and timing.
- Filters on every list show only vegan, vegetarian or meat and fish dishes.
Weaknesses
- A small collection of 84 recipes, compared with the thousands on the large recipe sites.
- Classic dishes rather than new creations, and no comments or ratings from cooks.
- No about page or legal notice is linked, so readers can’t see who writes the recipes.
Who it is for
Home cooks who want simple, mostly plant-based everyday dishes, in English, French or German, without wading through adverts.
