Description

Grünspecht is a family company in Bavaria that has made natural baby and family products since 1994, such as cherry-stone pillows, natural rubber teething rings, organic cotton and wool care, mostly in Germany and Europe.

It was founded in 1994 as Kirschkern Naturprodukte in Heidenheim, moved to Ingolstadt in 1998 as Grünspecht, and is now Grünspecht Naturprodukte GmbH in Karlskron near Ingolstadt. Founder Armin Herker runs it with Julian and Manuel Herker. It has more than 35 employees and more than 135 products, and works with suppliers in Germany and abroad and with workshops for people with disabilities. It lists ISO 13485 quality management for medical devices, OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and GOTS certification for organic textiles.

The range covers warming pillows, teething rings and finger toothbrushes of natural rubber, wool fat, wrapping and nappy products, dummies and finger paints. In the shop in November 2026 a 22 × 24 cm cherry-stone pillow cost €8.99, a natural rubber teething ring €6.99, 50 g of organic wool fat €7.99 and a set of four finger paints €16.99, with free shipping from €40.

Strengths

  • Most products are made in Germany and Europe, some in workshops for people with disabilities.
  • It holds GOTS and OEKO-TEX certificates for textiles and ISO 13485 for its quality management.
  • Prices are moderate for baby products, from about €5 for a finger toothbrush.

Weaknesses

  • Some suppliers are abroad, and the site doesn’t say which products come from where.
  • The certificate files linked on the site show validity dates that had passed or were about to pass in November 2026.
  • Not every product is certified; the labels apply to parts of the range.

Who it is for

Parents in Germany who want baby care and accessories of natural rubber, cherry stones, wool and organic cotton, made mostly in Germany by a family firm.
