Description
Vilac is a French wooden-toy maker in Moirans-en-Montagne, in the Jura, that has turned, sanded, lacquered and decorated toys in its own workshop since 1911, using beech, hornbeam, alder and box from French forests.
The company is an SAS registered in Lons-le-Saunier. Its history page says its wooden toys come from sustainably managed forests, and that toys it can’t make in France are made abroad; it doesn’t say what share that is. Its toys meet the European toy safety standard EN 71 (parts 1 to 3), tested by laboratories such as SGS, Intertek, Eurofins or Bureau Veritas, and a “fabrication française” section lists the toys made in the Jura.
The range covers pull-along animals, cars, building planks, rattles, musical toys, ride-ons and decorative pieces, many in bright lacquered colours. In the online shop in November 2026 a mini wooden roadster cost €14.90, an Eiffel Tower yo-yo €9.90, a box of 200 Batibloc building planks €44.90 and a metal ride-on €129.90.
