Description

Pickawood is a German online shop for made-to-measure furniture: tables, shelves, sideboards, wardrobes and beds configured on the website to the centimetre, in solid wood or in panels, and built by partner joineries.

Pickawood GmbH was founded in 2012 and is based in Hamburg, with showrooms in Hamburg and Berlin and more than 50 staff. It doesn’t make the furniture itself. Orders go as production data to joineries that it selects, many of them family-run, according to the company, but it doesn’t name them or say in which countries they are.

Solid wood comes in twelve species, from beech and oak to European cherry and American walnut, finished with oil. Shelves can also be made in lacquered MDF, veneered chipboard or plywood. Pickawood says its wood comes from sustainably managed forests, mostly in Europe, but shows no FSC or PEFC certificate. In November 2026 a 160 × 80 cm table in oiled wild oak cost €1,059, and a 200 × 154 cm oak bookcase €2,271, with six to nine weeks’ production.

Strengths

  • Furniture is built to the exact size of an alcove, a sloping ceiling or an awkward wall, which avoids buying twice.
  • Solid wood with an oil finish can be sanded and oiled again after years of use.
  • Customers on Trusted Shops rate it 4.9 out of 5 from more than 5,000 reviews, often for the fit.

Weaknesses

  • The joineries are not named, so neither where the furniture is made nor working conditions can be checked.
  • The sustainable forestry claim has no FSC or PEFC certificate behind it on the site.
  • Some customers report delivery dates from two different carriers and edges less well finished than a local joiner’s.

Who it is for

Owners and tenants in Germany with rooms that standard furniture doesn’t fit, who want solid wood made to measure without finding a joiner themselves.
