Description
The Krankenkassenliste is the official list of Germany’s statutory health insurance funds (gesetzliche Krankenkassen) with their additional contribution rates, published by their umbrella body, the GKV-Spitzenverband. It shows every fund and its rate for free, with no sign-up and no sales call afterwards.
The GKV-Spitzenverband is a public-law body in Berlin to which all statutory funds belong, and section 242(5) of the Social Code Book V requires it to publish this overview and keep it current. The funds send their rates electronically; the list shows the rate valid on the day and a planned change only from its start date. On 5 November 2026 it held 92 funds, each with its Zusatzbeitrag, the states where it is open (or “bundesweit”) and a link to its website. A filter shows or hides the funds reserved to one company’s staff.
Every member pays the general rate of 14.6 % of gross pay, half of it paid by the employer, plus their fund’s Zusatzbeitrag. The health ministry has set the average at 2.9 % for 2026 and again for 2027; on the list’s first page alone, rates ran from 2.60 % to 3.79 %. Since 2021 switching needs no cancellation letter: members apply to the new fund after twelve months, or straight away when their fund raises its rate.
Strengths
- Every statutory fund is listed by law, including those that pay comparison portals nothing.
- Rates are valid on the day, supplied by the funds themselves, and can be filtered by federal state.
- Free, with no account, no contact details and no ranking anyone has paid for.
Weaknesses
- It compares price only: extra benefits, service and bonus schemes are missing, though the page itself says they matter.
- The funds are responsible for their own figures, so a mistake or a late change shows as they sent it.
- It covers statutory insurance only; private health insurance (PKV) tariffs aren’t listed.
Who it is for
Employees, students and pensioners in Germany with statutory health insurance who want to see whether their fund’s Zusatzbeitrag is high, especially after it has gone up.
