Description

dieUmweltDruckerei is a German online print shop that prints flyers, business cards, brochures, posters, calendars and labels on 100 % recycled paper, much of it with the Blauer Engel label, using green electricity.

The company, dieUmweltDruckerei GmbH, is based in Groß Oesingen in Lower Saxony. Its recycled range uses paper made entirely from waste paper, and it lists several Blauer Engel papers, from Circle Offset Premium White to Mundoplus and a budget matt recycled paper. Selected products can carry the Blauer Engel for printed matter (DE-UZ 195), and the logo can be printed on them as an option, which affects the price. The site says it runs on 100 % renewable electricity.

The print shop is careful about its claims: its ink page says it makes no blanket “eco-friendly ink” claims, that “bio” or plant-oil wording alone doesn’t mean free of mineral-oil components, and that ink systems are checked process by process against the Blauer Engel criteria for printing (DE-UZ 237). It calculates the CO₂ of each order with natureOffice and supports a climate project, but says this doesn’t make the print climate-neutral. Prices are shown in the online configurator. It received the GREEN BRAND seal for 2026/27.

Strengths

  • Everything in the recycled range is printed on 100 % recycled paper, and selected products can carry the Blauer Engel.
  • It explains the limits of its own claims, for example on inks and CO₂ compensation, instead of calling its print climate-neutral.
  • It runs on 100 % renewable electricity, according to the company.

Weaknesses

  • The Blauer Engel for printed matter applies only to selected products, not to the whole range.
  • Toner printing uses Konica Minolta toner, which doesn’t carry the Blauer Engel itself.
  • Prices are only shown in the configurator, so comparing them takes a few clicks per product.

Who it is for

Associations, small businesses and event organisers in Germany who need flyers, cards or posters and want them printed on recycled paper by a print shop that is honest about its limits.
